Making of "culturas de mexico"

(etcetera23 in the travel studio)

Making of ...

"Culturas de Mexico"

This is the final work of my mexican travel series.
The Size is about A4 on 300 mg/m² and the main medium are water color pencils.
To start, I worked with Pencils, Rulers and and a divider to create the basics. Then I worked with different size water proof markers, to form the outlines. From there I started coloring with the pencils and blurred the colors with a Japanese brush. A Japanese brush is a pencil with a water container in his back, so you  have always a wet brush. Later I formed more forms with the paint and did some outlining with the permanent makers. On the pictures you can see my way through.

In the painting you can see the different influences in colors and forms. Blue for water, greens and browns for culture, indigenous influence, landscapes and mountains
The Graffiti like structure (which actually says Mexico) and the X in the middle signify the modern mexico with all there industry, people and lifestyle.

If  you have any questions, please ask.
